- Description
Thank you for considering One-to-one lessons for your fencer. One-to-one lessons are one of the fastest ways to develop and accelerate your fencing.
They provide dedicated time with a coach to develop technique, build confidence, solve specific challenges and work towards your personal goals. Whether you're just starting out or preparing for competition, each lesson is tailored to help you improve and enjoy your fencing even more.
This is a long term!! You're booking a series of 15 lessons. You will pay for 13 lessons but will be scheduled for 15 dates. This gives you leeway to miss 2 but you MUST take all 13 within the 15 dates - there will be NO carry-over and NO credit except in exceptional circumstances agreed by the coach and Sarah Paveley who is the lesson administrator
You will be EXPECTED to take the last two lessons and pay for them if you haven’t missed any earlier on - the cost of coach and venue is managed on this basis.
We need you to give as much notice as possible (more than 48 hours) so we can juggle times around and avoid gaps - you will be less than popular if you don't give notice and therefore less flexibility from us! If you give less than 48 hours notice then the lesson cannot be "cancelled" and will be included in your tally.
You must join the WhatsApp group given in the confirmation email and use it to communicate and record changes even if you have spoken to the coach - this is where we manage and record attendance and it gives other fencers the opportunity to take up gaps in the schedule. Each lesson will be specific to the pupil and will include the following:
Fencing warm-up -
Strength and conditioning specific to fencing
Fencing footwork
Specific fencing exercises - blade in hand -
Theory
Question for research and then a discussion at the next meet
A few suggestions on what to practice between our lessons. You will need
Sports kit and the trainers you usually wear to fence
Foil and glove - if you don’t have these, I can bring them PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED THESE
An adult carer/parent to greet coaches and sign off - it is good practice to have an adult with you at all times.
Note book and penBy booking this session, you confirm that you and your child have read and agree to follow the relevant Cambridge Sword policies, including the 'Fencer Code of Conduct', 'Parent/Carer Code of Conduct', 'Arrival, Collection and Supervision Policy', 'Equipment, Kit Loan and Armoury Policy', 'One-to-One Lessons Policy and Booking Terms', 'British Fencing Membership and Insurance Requirements Policy', 'Payments, Booking, Refunds and Cancellations Policy', and 'WhatsApp and Digital Messaging Policy'.
