Sun 22 Mar 2026, 8.00am - 3.00pm
Booking for this activity's session will end 3 days before the start time.
This is one of the annual age group events (FOIL) to be run for the County by Cambridge Sword.
All ages welcome up to 17 years old. Age groups are U10, U12, U14 and U17.
We'd like you to enter the competition and tell us in the booking info, which school you attend as schools may want to provide staff to support school teams. We will assume that everyone will fence for their club (unless a school claims them!) and we will liaise with clubs and schools just before the event to confirm team names and members.
It will be a fun day out and provide a great starting place for those new to competition and confidence building for those that have done some competing.
There may be a short exhibition fencing match at 09.15 and lots of explanation of how fencing works, how it's scored and how the competition will run.
Plenty of room for parents and great coffee - we want to show you our wonderful sport and what your fencer has achieved so far! Great snacks and lots of help and support from coaches and other experienced parents.
You MUST be a current member of British Fencing to take part and we will check membership numbers. You must have recreational or higher membership to take part in the competition. https://www.britishfencing.com/members/membership-info/membership-types/recreational-membership/
If you don't have your own or hired kit dont worry, we can help! Please ask your club coaches to help you ensure you have the correct equipment – they will all know about this competition and have seen this summary so they will be ready and able to help you.
Entries are open to those in the correct age categories who fences at a Cambridge Club or who lives in Cambridgeshire. We are also inviting fencers from Saffron Walden Swords and Bury Fencing Club to join us.

There will be a fencing explanation and exhibition match before the competition starts to ensure you understand the day and get the best out of it.
